Vicky's Story

Vicky, a 39-year-old from Hull, began smoking in college due to peer influence and soon developed a habit of smoking up to 10 cigarettes a day. Her smoking intensified as she entered the workforce and faced personal challenges, such as a divorce. However, everything changed when she discovered she was pregnant, prompting her to seek support to quit smoking for the health of her unborn child.

Vicky enrolled in the Smokefree Hull service, where she received guidance on quitting methods. She opted for patches and an inhalator to combat cravings, ultimately finding success with the inhalator. With support from her advisor, Chelsea, Vicky embraced her smoke-free journey, experiencing clearer lungs and improved overall health within just four weeks.

Beyond the health benefits, quitting smoking also brought financial relief, with Vicky saving nearly £200 a month. With her baby due soon, Vicky feels secure knowing she has the financial resources to provide for her growing family. Supported by her family, including her non-smoking boyfriend, Vicky is committed to creating a smoke-free environment for her child.
