Smoking can cause a pregnant woman to give early births to their babies, with diagnosed illnesses and sometimes deaths.

In 2015, nearly 70 percent of current adult smokers in the United States said they wanted to quit. In 2018, about 55 percent of adult smokers made an attempt to quit in the past year, but only about 8 percent were successful in quitting for 6-12 months.
